What are EUR account details?
These are your very own account details to receive euros (EUR) with zero fees.
This isn’t a bank account, but the IBAN and Swift/BIC code we give you work in the same way when receiving money. Just share your account name, IBAN and Swift/BIC code to your friends, company or customers, so they can send you EUR from their bank account.
The IBAN is a combination of letters and numbers that represent things like country, bank code, and branch code. Use our IBAN checker if you need to break down the codes.
Because we're licensed in Belgium, our IBAN starts with BE. We won't be able to provide an IBAN with a different country code. If you come across issues with the BE number within the EEA, this may be IBAN discrimination. Also note that our IBAN doesn't have a branch code because we don't have a physical bank branch.

How to receive EUR
First, you’ll need to get EUR account details.
Then, share your details to the person who wants to pay you.
They can pay using SEPA bank transfers or Swift.
SEPA bank transfers usually take 0–2 working days to arrive in your account. Swift transfers take 4–5 working days.
Receiving Swift
If you're receiving EUR from outside the EU SEPA zone, the international payment will require correspondent bank details. Most banks will auto-generate this using the Swift database. If the person paying you needs routing information, use the following details:
Recipient Swift code/BIC: TRWIBEB1XXX
Correspondent Swift code/BIC: TRWIGB2LXXX
You should only send EUR to these account details. If we receive payments to these EUR account details in any other currency, it'll get rejected and sent back to the sender.
But if the sending bank sends a Swift payment to us through another correspondent BIC (in another currency), the intermediary banks along the way might convert it to EUR — in this case, we can credit it to your EUR account.
Note: If you have account details for your GBP balance, you can also receive EUR to your GB IBAN.

Set up Direct Debits with your EUR account details
You can share your details with a company, and give them the permission to take regular payments from your account.
You might use Direct Debits to pay for a monthly subscription like the gym, or to pay your phone or energy bill.

What if my EUR account details aren’t working?
I can’t set up a Direct Debit
Your EUR account details support Direct Debits via the SEPA core direct debit scheme. We don’t support direct debits made via the SEPA B2B direct debit scheme.
A merchant is blocking my Direct Debit
Despite the Euro single market, some merchants won’t allow Direct Debits from Euro accounts in another country. For example, a Spanish gym might not accept your IBAN because it’s based in Belgium.
Merchants are required by EU law to accept IBANs from other members of the European Economic Area (EEA). So, if someone doesn’t accept your IBAN, please let us know using this form.
You can also report merchants who don’t accept your IBAN to the relevant authority in your country.
A bank isn’t recognising my Wise account details
There are banks — particularly outside of Europe — who may not recognise your account details. Here's what you can do if a bank won’t allow payments to your Wise account.
Send our letter to the bank in question — it’ll help them understand what they need to do to fix this.
Let the bank know that they're legally obliged to accept the IBAN of another EU country.
If they continue to not accept your details, report the bank for IBAN discrimination on acceptmyiban.org

How is my EUR balance managed by Wise?
Your EUR account details work exactly the same for you, regardless of where you live: you share them with your sender, and they can send you EUR using these details. However, the way we manage your money depends on whether your address is inside or outside the EEA.
We use our own network to make it easy for you to receive money locally. To ensure a smooth process, the different entities within the Wise Group have made agreements to manage and protect your money through their respective accounts.
Your Wise Account will always be held with the Wise entity based on your residence. This means that you have one account with Wise, and it’s managed by the local Wise entity which operates in your country of residence.
The entity with which you hold your Wise Account retains the responsibility and liability for any issues related to your EUR Local Account Details or money received through them. This is because the money is held by the entity that manages your Wise Account.
How it works if you live in the European Economic Area (EEA)
If you are a resident within the EEA, your account and account details are held with Wise Europe.
When you receive money to your EUR Local Account Details, it is received in an account held by Wise Europe.
Wise Europe retains the responsibility and liability for any issues related to your EUR Local Account Details or funds received through them
How it works if you live outside the European Economic Area (EEA)
If you live outside of the European Economic Area (EEA), your contract is with the local Wise Group entity.
This local Wise Group entity has an arrangement with Wise Europe to provide you with local EUR Account Details and handle the flow of funds associated with these details.
If you are a resident outside of the European Economic Area (EEA) and you have EUR Local Account Details, this doesn’t mean you have a separate account with Wise Europe or you are directly a customer of Wise Europe. Your one Wise account will still be held by the local Wise Group entity in your country of residence.
When you use your EUR Local Account Details, the funds are first received in an account held by your Wise Group entity with Wise Europe. As soon as the funds arrive in this account, they are transferred to the local Wise Entity that manages your Wise Account and credited to your EUR balance.
For example, if you live in the UK, your contract is with Wise Payments Limited. When someone sends you EUR to your EUR IBAN details, the money will be received by Wise Europe first. Wise Europe will allocate the money to the account of Wise Payments Limited, who then makes it available in your Wise Account. This all happens in the background, you’ll only see that the money is in your EUR balance.
