What are GBP account details?
These are your very own account details to receive British pounds (GBP). This isn’t a bank account, but the account number and sort code we give you work in the same way when receiving money.
Just share your account name, number and sort code to your friends, company or customers, and they can send you GBP from any UK bank account. And no one pays any fees.

How to receive GBP
First, you’ll need to get GBP account details and then you can share your details to the person who wants to pay you.
They can pay using the Faster Payments System (FPS), Bacs or CHAPS. This can take up to 1 working day to arrive.
They can also send you GBP by Swift from countries outside of the UK. This can take 4–5 working days to arrive.
How to receive other currencies to your GBP account details
You can receive in multiple different currencies to your GBP Swift/global account details: AED, GBP, EUR, USD, AUD, BGN, CAD, CHF, CZK, CNY, DKK, HKD, HUF, ILS, JPY, NOK, NZD, PLN, SEK, RON, SGD, UGX and ZAR.
Deposits will be settled in the currency that we receive from the sender.
Keep in mind that some correspondent banks may charge your sender extra fees.
If we receive payments to GBP account details in any other currency not listed here, they'll get rejected and get sent back to the sender.
Note that:
if your address is in Australia, you can’t receive AUD via Swift
if your address is in New Zealand, you can’t receive NZD via Swift
What account details to provide your sender
To get your payment in any of the above currencies directly into your GBP account details, give the sender these details:
your Swift (BIC) code and account number
your GBP IBAN
As Wise is based in the UK, we use a GBP IBAN or GBP Swift (BIC) code for some account details. Don’t worry —you can still use the GBP IBAN to receive one of the currencies listed, and the payments will arrive into that currency's balance. When sharing your IBAN with your sender, tell them to select the United Kingdom if they’re asked the country of the recipient’s (your) bank.
Please note that some sender banks might convert money to GBP if they see the bank details are in GBP. To avoid any conversion fees, ask the sender bank that you would like to receive in the currency you chose.
Receive international Swift payments in USD
Without local USD account details, you can’t receive USD from others directly to your Wise account using ACH or domestic wire payments. However, you can still receive USD via Swift (international wire) transfers using your GBP account details.
Please note that some sender banks might charge correspondent fees and convert your money to GBP. To avoid any conversion fees, clarify with the sender bank that you want to receive the money in USD.
How to set up Direct Debits with your GBP account details
You can share your details with a company, and give them the permission to take regular payments from your account.
You might use Direct Debits to pay for a monthly subscription like the gym, or to pay your phone or energy bill.
