Account details are a set of details for a currency to receive money. Once you have your EUR account details, you’ll have your own account details where you can receive euros.
This isn’t a bank account, but you can receive money in the same way by sharing your IBAN with friends, family, clients or companies, so that they can send you money.
They can pay you locally from their European bank, or internationally by Swift. Once you receive the money, it’ll be credited to your EUR balance.
Wise has an entity in Belgium, so we use a Belgian BIC code and a Wise address in Belgium for some of our European currency accounts. You can use the Belgian BIC to receive payments in EUR to your EUR balance.
Opening new account details
You’ll first need to open a EUR balance. Then you select Get your account details and follow the steps.
We’ll need to verify you before we can provide details to you.

Payments from inside Europe

Name
IBAN
The sender’s bank will give them an estimate when they set up the payment — for any details about how long it takes, reach out to your sender so they can ask their bank.
Payments from outside Europe
If your payer is not able to make a domestic transfer, you can use your EUR details to receive Swift payments.
Payments by Swift to EUR details
To receive international payments via Swift share following details with the sender:
Name
IBAN *
Bank Name and bank Address**
* The IBAN is a combination of letters and numbers that represent things like country, bank code, and branch code. Use our IBAN checker if you need to break down the codes into BIC and account number.
**Address and bank name that is shown on your account details screen
We provide you with a Proof of Account Ownership document, so you can share with your sender. They can send Swift payments to your account from anywhere in the world.
They should only send you EUR to these account details, because we can't process payments in any other currency.
We don’t charge any additional fees to receive international payments in EUR, but correspondent banks might apply their own fees.
Some banks might ask for localised IBANs e.g. French, German, but Wise doesn't issue them currently.
Payments by Swift to GBP details
You can also receive EUR from outside Europe by Swift into your GBP international account details.
Let the sender know that you want to receive EUR into your GBP details so you can avoid conversion fees. Some banks might recognise the GBP IBAN and want to convert EUR to GBP, but this isn't necessary.
If their bank asks them the country of the recipient’s bank, tell them to select the United Kingdom.
