If you’ve been invited by someone who uses Wise, you might receive a fee-free transfer for your first transfer.
What is a fee-free transfer?
A fee-free transfer will either remove or reduce the fee on your first transfer, regardless of the currency your payment is in.
We’ll show you how much the discount is when you set up your transfer.
How do they work?
Fee-free transfers are:
single use
automatically applied to the next transfer that you make with us
applied when sending a transfer or adding money to your Wise account. They aren’t applied to conversions between balances or Wise card payments.
usable for up to 6 months of signing up — after 6 months they'll expire if left unused.
covers all Wise transfer fees, except for any external costs (e.g For BRL transfers, the fee-free transfer will not cover Brazilian IOF tax).
Here are some examples of how a Fee-free transfer would be used
Fee-free transfers come in different amounts, but let’s say yours is for 500 GBP (or equivalent).
Example 1: You’re sending 483 GBP to USD. Since the amount you’re transferring is less than 500 GBP, you won’t be charged any fees.
Example 2: You’re sending 1592 GBP to JPY. Since the amount you’re transferring is more than the 500 GBP, we’ll apply normal fees on what’s over that — 1092 GBP.
Additional payment fees, such as credit card fees or any additional banking fees, will be applied if the total amount (including the payment fee) is greater than the discount we give you.
How can I check that I got my fee-free transfer?
To check if you’ve got the discount, set up a transfer. You should see the discounted fee in the calculator.
